11th Annual Memorial Butterfly Release

Bereaved Families of York Region is conducting its 11th Annual Memorial Butterfly Release at Fairy Lake Park.

This Event takes place every September at Fairy Lake Park, 520 Water Street in Newmarket, Ontario at the Gazebo.  Registration begins at 9 am, and the event commences at 10 am.

The morning consists of a ceremony where hundreds of beautiful monarch butterflies are released in memory of loved ones that have passed on. This event allows individuals to express their sorrow for the loss of their loved ones, celebrate, and honour their memory.

The Thornhill Village Cultural Festival will be held in the large Thornhill Park, located just off Old Yonge Street, still in the heart of Old Thornhill.

The Festival will features: Craft booths; Community displays, Music and Entertainment; an Old Tyme baking contest; Petting zoo; Children’s activities; historic battle re-enactments 
Food and Beverages will be available on site and close to the Park.

The theme of the Festival is “The World in a Village” and this will be noticed in its title  …

A re-enactment of the 1837 Upper Canada Rebellion, in which Newmarket played a vital role. The ARCH Committee, comprised of the Newmarket Historical Society, Heritage Newmarket, and the Elman W. Campbell Museum, will present a re-enactment and encampment at Fairy Lake park on September 22 and 23, 2018. The event will involve an encampment of military re-enactors, settlers, vendors, and craftspeople.

Markham Fair occurs annually on the weekend before Thanksgiving, and hosts upwards of 60,000 attendees. Approximately 3,000 exhibitors will enter more than 10,000 items, which will be judged and put on display during the fair. Promoting excellence through competition in this way, is what makes fairs unique in comparison to other events.
