JOIN MEMBERS OF YORK REGIONAL POLICE WITH YOUR FAMILY
AT A FREE COMMUNITY SKATE
York Regional Police recognizes the benefits of families and communities spending quality time together. For the last five years we have created a unique opportunity for children of all ages and their families to join Chief Armand La Barge, celebrity guests and members of York Regional Police for a Free Community Skate event each year.
The York Regional Police Holiday Season Free Community Skate will take place on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, from 12 to 2 p.m., at the Georgina Ice Palace, blue ice pad, located at 90 Wexford Drive, Keswick. Members of the community are invited to attend at no charge.
Celebrity guests include members of the National Hockey League Alumni, former Olympic athletes and the three York Regional Police mascots - Bobby the Bear, Bucky the Beaver and Morris the Moose. They will join Chief La Barge and other members of York Regional Police on the ice.
Enjoying family time, getting to know members of your community and spending time with role models like police officers and celebrity sports figures, help build strong, safe communities.
“I think we can all appreciate how busy this time of year is,” said Chief La Barge. “The free Community Skate is an event where families can relax, enjoy their time together, meet some of our community’s athletes and members of your York Regional Police. This has become a fun tradition for everyone. We are proud to host it this year in the Town of Georgina”
This is also an opportunity to help replenish the shelves of local food banks that are at their lowest levels after the holiday season. The need for basic food and grocery supplies at this time is urgent. York Regional Police is encouraging attendees to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item in our post-holiday food drive.
Free coffee, hot chocolate and snacks for the kids will be available during the skate. Come out and enjoy the fun!
