The choir was founded in 1973 by Robert Richardson, who still continues as musical director. Cantabile Chorale performs in and around York Region eight to ten times a year, drawing on an eclectic and ever-expanding repertoire of sacred and secular choral music. Popular annual fixtures are 'The Joy of Christmas' in December and 'Strawberries and Song' in June. The choir recently reached its 35th anniversary, and gratefully acknowledges the support of its numerous sponsors, patrons and regular concert attendees, as well as past funding awards by the Town of Richmond Hill and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
